Our Story

Forgotten Horses Rescue is run by Trish Geltner, a lifetime horse lover and western horse trainer, and her husband and fellow rider, Greg. Trish’s professional experience enables her to evaluate and care for these often broken and dispirited horses, and rehab and retrain them, then match them up with the right adopter. From foals, through competition horses to the elderly horse, we offer food, shelter, vet care and most of all, love and compassion. Please join us!

Here is some helpful information on how to adopt one of our horses.

Step 1

Determine the horse that is best suited for your lifestyle. Reach out to us to see if we have the perfect horse for you.

Step 2

Select the right horse for you and fill out an adoption application.

Step 3

Prospective adopters are interviewed face to face. Once you complete an adoption application, contact us to set up an appointment for us to meet you. We may ask to come out to see you and your facilities or invite you to come out to meet us and the horse.

Step 4

If everything works out and it seems like a good match, an adoption contract is signed by both parties. This contract is a co-ownership contract that lasts for the life of the horse.
